In 2015-2018 I entered some of my photographs into several photo contests and I was very happy that I won some prizes!

'Autumn leafs'

Groene Camera 2018
Runner-up
Category 'plants and toadstools'

Beech leafs are the most beautiful in autumn, photographed looking up with leafs in the foreground that almost look like they are in water.

'The last dewdrop'

Groene Camera 2018
Runner-up
Category 'abstract'

Here you see a last dewdrop on a male banded demoiselle, one of the most beautiful damselflies in the Netherlands. You are looking at the top of its wings and only see a part of it. They have a magnificent shade of blue.

'Autumn dragonfly'

Lowland Photo Contest 2017
Highly commended
Category 'yellow'

At the end of september there were still a lot of dragonflies in national park 'Weerribben-Wieden'. They were all sleeping in the reed that was already colored yellow. This is a wing detail of a spotted darter, a very rare dragonfly for the Netherlands.

'Pearls on a wing'

Roots Nature Photo Contest 2016
First prize
Art of nature category

Lowland Photo Contest 2015
Runner – up
Insect category

This picture was taken early in the morning. The male black-tailed skimmer, covered in dewdrops, was sitting completely still in the foliage. By using the fantastic Canon MP-E 65 mm Macro Photo lens I was able to show just a detail of the wing of this dragonfly. I had to get very close to the animal to take the picture. It is one of my personal favourites.

'Dancing trees'

Lowland Photo Contest 2015
Highly commended
Plants and fungi category

This photograph is a combination of two images, done in the camera so while in the field, and is called double exposure. This way the image becomes more abstract and interesting.

Here is a link to the brochure with all the finalists of the Lowland Photo Contest 2015. My image of the dragonfly was used for the cover!
